Payload Overview¶
PEROVSAT will have two payload faces: - -X face - +Z Face
Each face will be testing two sizes of perovskite solar cells provided by the National Laboratory of the Rockies (NLR): a 1"x1" cell and a 45mmx35mm tandem device.
Two of each cell type will be present on both payload faces. In total, there are eight perovskite cells on PEROVSAT. These perovskite cells will be tested against reference silicon photovolatic (PV) cells. There will be two reference cells per face: four in total.
Also present on payload faces will be one sun sensor per face and seven temperature sensors per face.
The tandem cells are surface-mounted on the outward-facing side of the plate. They are sitting in recessed pockets and will be attached to the plate with epoxy or Kapton tape. The 1"x1" cells are mounted on the inward-facing side, held in place by a PoGo PCB.
Each sunsensor is surface mounted to the inward-facing side of the plate, with a chamfered hole to expose it's light-reading point. The temperature sensor is epoxied to
The bus provider for the PEROVSAT system is Near Space Launch (NSL). The models shown below were also designed using SolidWorks 2026.

This face has a smaller surface area due to mounting rails on the edges of the NSL bus.

At each corner, the mounting rails extend 3mm, which all of the components must not exceed.
